Leather Workshop | Feb 1
12pm-3pm at Cadence Park
This 2.5 hour class will be an intro to handcrafted leather techniques where you’ll start with raw materials and create your own personalized keychain using hand tools. If you finish the project early, you’ll have the opportunity to learn basic hand saddle-stitching techniques and why it is superior to machine sewing. You’ll go home with your own keychain made with high-quality vegetable-tanned leather, and the tools for continuing your leatherwork education at home.
About Kyle Coop
Kyle Koop has been running Spilt Milk Leather Co. since 2017. His passion for creating things started with woodshop in 7th grade. He spent the next 10 years making furniture for himself, friends and family before taking up leathercraft as a hobby to simply to keep his hands busy and continue his life's passion for creating. Kyle's first project was a key chain, which seemed simple, cut a strip of leather and secure two fasteners on each end with a rivet in the middle. He went on to study traditional French and Japanese handcrafted techniques that did not involve any sort of power tools or sewing machines. Eventually, Kyle started his own leather goods business, striving to create the best hand-crafted leather goods possible.
